Transition Programs
No group has a greater stake in the outcome of transition planning than students with special needs. At Montgomery Academy students are active, participating members of formal and informal activities and efforts to help develop their career path choices whether they involve university entrance or not.
Our employment training and skills program, known as M.I.R. or “Make it Real”- is designed to expose all students to job options. M.I.R provides opportunities for students to explore a number of employment-related areas. Clerical skills, building maintenance and repair, landscaping, multimedia and culinary arts fields are current segments of the program.
Beginning in the lower grades, students are encouraged to assess their interests and inclinations through a variety of exploration activities and community field trips. Our hands-on approach demonstrates the connection between academic subject areas and the work of life.
