Technology
We believe technology should be used to enhance student learning, improve communication and efficiently manage information. The incorporation of technology not only prepares students with increasingly necessary life skills but also broadens and deepens student learning. Specifically, we utilize the strength of computers to promote collaborative learning, to teach and improve research skills and information literacy, to develop critical thinking skills, to encourage creativity and to individualize learning across the curriculum.
To support this program, the school maintains a 14 seat Computer Lab for instructional and student use and each classroom has one or more computers. Keyboarding skills are introduced early and the use of software applications like Word and Excel are integrated throughout the curriculum. Montgomery Academy has an Acceptable Use Policy governing the accessibility of web site material and the appropriate use of technology resources. Our school is wired- our library computers have high speed internet access and we have numerous projectors and other equipment such as IPODS and digital cameras that are used regularly by both staff and students. Smart Boards are planned for the 2008/2009 school year.
